Funnel and UX Cleanup

Project Context

A service based organisation relied on its website to convert enquiries, but the site suffered from slow load times, unclear message hierarchy, and an inconsistent user path. Visitors often moved between pages without understanding the offer, and tracking did not reflect the full funnel.

The objective was to create a clean, structured funnel that clarified the service, supported user decision making, and delivered consistent signals for measurement.

Platforms: WordPress, GA4

Note: This case study anonymises the organisation due to commercial sensitivity. The strategic approach and outcomes are fully represented.

  • UX

  • Funnel Structure

  • CRO

  • Site Architecture

  • Tracking Consistency

Commercial Problem

Three issues created friction in the conversion path:

  1. Unclear information hierarchy
Visitors struggled to locate essential details. Key value points were buried, and pages competed for attention instead of guiding users logically.
  2. Fragmented funnel structure
Internal links pushed users sideways rather than forward. Calls to action were inconsistent, and multiple pages attempted to serve the same purpose.
  3. Slow or unstable site elements
Heavy assets, poorly configured plugins, and legacy styles contributed to lag and occasional layout shifts.

These issues reduced conversion probability and created noise in the data.

Strategic Approach – Architecture and Hierarchy

The site was reorganised into a clear, linear funnel:

  • 1

homepage reframed for clarity and scannability

  • 2

service pages restructured with a consistent model

  • 3

supporting pages reassigned to later stages of the funnel

  • 4

visual hierarchy simplified to reduce cognitive load

Key messages were rewritten or reordered to present value quickly.

Funnel Consolidation

  • Duplicate or competing pages were merged.

  • Calls to action were unified into a small set of consistent, purposeful entry points.

  • Unnecessary navigation paths were reduced to limit escape routes.

Performance Improvements

  • Non essential plugins were removed.

  • Heavy assets were replaced or compressed.

  • Templates were cleaned to ensure stable layout behaviour.

  • The result was a faster page experience with fewer distractions.

Tracking Alignment

GA4 events were aligned with the new funnel structure.
Micro and macro conversions were redefined to reflect real user intent.
The measurement layer became more coherent, supporting future optimisation.

Outcome

After the adjustments, the site delivered three core improvements:

  1. Clearer user journeys
Visitors moved through the site with less friction. Information surfaced in the right order, and the service was easier to understand.
  2. Higher conversion readiness
Cleaner structure, faster load times, and consistent calls to action improved user engagement and increased the probability of enquiry.
  3. Reliable funnel measurement
Tracking mapped directly to the redesigned user flow, enabling more accurate optimisation decisions.

The site transitioned from fragmented and unclear to structured, readable, and conversion oriented.

Clear Approach

  • event structure

  • signal reliability

  • channel alignment

Project Outcome

  • accurate data

  • improved attribution

  • stable foundation for marketing and product decisions
